Over the last few weeks, thousands of people in Southern California have faced catastrophic destruction due to the plethora of wildfires in the region of a magnitude which no one has ever seen or experienced in any lifetime.
Our hearts go out to everyone whose lives have been dramatically charged by these fires …which seem to be ongoing due to the persistent drought and high winds.
Beginning with the Thomas Fire in 2017, the Poinsettia Pavilion was a conduit to provide support to the community when that fire threatened to spread into Ventura proper. At that time the Pavilion was almost destroyed. Due to the heroic efforts of the resident groundskeeper, Hector Andrade, he worked tirelessly to keep thousands of wind-blown embers from engulfing the building in flames.
Then the facility became the emergency location for the victims who were displaced. The Pavilion also provided a place for 27 government agencies to work on site with those who were affected by the fire to help them rebuild their homes and lives.
Once again we wish to help people in a time of dire need.
Thus, we have partnered with the Rotary Club of Ventura East to sponsor an event which can help those without from those who with.
The joint effort will host an event on Saturday, February 15th, from 5 to 9:30 pm at the Pavilion. The admission ticket price is only $25. Appetizers are being donated by a long-time supporter of the Pavilion … Food Affairs by Stacey. https://www.foodaffairs.org/
Live music will be provided from 5:15 to 7 pm by the Second Wind Band Ventura … a group of friends and relatives who have played together for a very long time. Their mantra is to play songs you forgot you loved. You can visit their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61569957067397
Following the Second Wind Band Ventura at 7:30 to 9:15 will be the Mid Life Crisis band who plays all the classic rock songs you know and love. Visit them on Facebook https://www. facebook.com/midliferstsve/
Or, simply plan to come to the event.
